In honour of the visit by President of the United States, George W Bush and his very glam Secretary of State, Condi Rice to Australia for the APEC, we have what is possibly a World War II vintage drink label celebrating Australian-US friendship.
While Coca Cola became the official supplier of soft drinks to the allies during World War Two, local manufacturers kept the taste for Cola rolling along.
As with the all of the labels in the collection, next to nothing is known about manufacturer Aerated Waters Healesville, but it is likely that it didn't survive the post-War boom in transportation and consolidation of soft drink manufacturers by the likes of Coke and Pepsi in the 1950s to the present day.
An interesting, if dryly written, history about the fate of Australia's softdrink manufacturers between 1945 and 1965 can be found here.
An interesting history of Australian-American relations during World War II can be found here.
