Today all a bloke has to do is take a little blue pill.
Back in 1954 a man had to seek stamina elsewhere.
Advertisement from the 1954 Brisbane Courier-Mail Annual.
*There's something a little odd about this model, the lack of socks is one, but his legs look very glossy, nay, oiled.
Very strange.
UPDATE:
Thanks to a few minutes squinting at the advertisement and a little bit of a lucky guess, we've found the artist responsible for this and countless other Stamina Trousers advertisements.
Walter Lacy Jardine was one of Australia's greatest commercial artists. Born in Sydney as the 10th (seventh surviving child) in 1884, his career took him to the US for a season. During his career his clients included Cosmopolitan, Good Housekeeping, Motor and the American Legion Magazine, and General Motors Corporation, Packard Motor Car Co., Arnotts, Akubra and Orient Steam Navigation company.
Jardine died in 1970.
