In decades before the Internet and fanfic you had to buy the official stuff.
None of this, write your own stories malarky, who do you think you are?
Anarchist. Hippy.
You're just the viewer and if you don't like our character development, well that's just too bad.
Read the cover daddy-o, it's like the 'Authorized Edition' man.
No great literary shakes here but an interesting use of character description shorthand as not to distract from the impending action:
The man with the machine gun was tall and bony and had the face of Bing Crosby beneath the cloth brim of his work cap. As the man with the crowbar went past, the driver saw that he had the face of Raymond Burr.Raymond Burr might have wanted it back - he was playing Ironside at the time.
Here's a glimpse of the series:

Goodness, it's like my childhood in here! Get Smart, The Mod Squad, Ironsides....
Nora, I'm the "ak" who mentioned your anodized canisters over at Tim Blair's place. My mother had a whole set of the anodized glasses when I was growing up. They were the one set of glasses we were allowed to take outside--when we wanted our Kool-Aid al fresco--because they wouldn't shatter.
I can't believe we got rid of them. Now you would pay US$60 a set at Pottery Barn. We got rid of them, and my parents' barware, and my grandmother's transferware... uh, I hate to think of it. But who knows what's going fashionable again? I tell my nieces now, when I leave you all my crap in my will, hold onto to it. Somebody someday will pay big money for it on eBay.
Best,
Ann
Hi Ann,
Thank you for visiting and thank you for sharing the story about about the anodysed glasses.
You've just reminded me that my grandfather had a travel set that zipped up in a faux leather case. I'm going to go look for it at home tonight.
He always kept it in the glovebox of his car when we were kids. He gave them to me a couple of years before he died.
Australia is going through a strong 60s-70s retro phase in terms of homewares - things like baked enamel colanders and jugs and toasters in pastel colours are tremendously popular (and expensive)!
A friend of mine who is very sharp on new trends was asking after those cups a few years back. Now I know she was on to something.
