Yessir, That's My Bebe

Get your hands on the buzzer and get ready to answer the following trivia questions:

Who starred as the love interest in the first version of The Maltese Falcon?

How about this, which Hollywood starlet played Dorothy Gale in the original version of The Wizard of Oz?

If you came up with the answer of Bebe Daniels you're either a film historian or you cheated and looked at the links.

Unlike many of the other stars Nifty Knick Knacks has profiled over the weeks, Bebe Daniels had a wonderful, happy life - accomplished actress, happily married wife and mother and somewhat of a war heroine.

Sadly suffering from a lack of recognition today, Bebe Daniels' career represents the epitome of the Hollywood dream.

Starting as a child actress, She worked with luminaries including Cecil B DeMille, paired in a number of films with legendary comedian Harold Lloyd and successfully made the transition to talkies including classic musicals 42nd Street and Dixiana.

Five years after marrying British actor Ben Lyon, Daniels moved to the UK and went on to write for and star in the Hi Gang radio series which bouyed the spirits of those suffering under the blitz.

Following the war, Daniels was awarded the Medal of Freedom by Harry S. Truman for war service.

After living a long and happy life, Bebe Daniels died in 1971 at the age of 70.
