In A Jam

The boast is proud - Melray Choice Jams.

And one is sure they were, lovely bright full colour labels with succulent fruit, what's not to love?

With the particular selection of breakfast condiment overstamped on the strip at the bottom, the labels were also cost effective too - particularly important when full colour printing was such a painstaking process.

Just think - separate colour plates requiring precise alignment for the smallest detail.

Any failure in the registration would have rendered the labels unusable.

Today we just output to film and whack it on the press.

So what about Melray Choice Jams - distributed far and wide across our fair land by 'Byers (Australia) Limited'?

God only knows.

Apart from labels at the Powerhouse Museum and the John Oxley Library, nothing exists of them at all.
