Shaken, Not Stirred

He was glamour star of the slient era, the epitome of taste and refinement. The name: Menjou, Adolphe Menjou.

In addition to being a silent film star he was also a staunch anti-communist and a leading member of the Motion Picture Alliance for the Preservation of American Ideals, a conservative group formed to oppose Communist influence in Hollywood. Other members included Barbara Stanwyck (with whom he co-starred in Golden Boy in 1939) and her husband, actor Robert Taylor.

While the advent of the talkies hampered Menjou's career it was his Republican leaning that really caused his career to dry up.

Perhaps he should have considered politics.
